THE CHIMES
THE CHIMES

Wood and brass hanging motionless
My bell-like melodious chimes
A soft breeze’s toy, giving joy
And sending tinkling tones sometimes

Then birthday came, a new surprise
Bigger, louder, with longer tube
Between them both, an orchestra
To my neighbors, was I so rude?

Dora painted me a cow bell
She insisted I hang it high
Did my neighbors now in secret
Stick pins in a voodoo doll eye

I gathered all my pride and joys
I put them in a cardboard box
No sooner done and put away
Listen, I heard the sudden knocks

My neighbor stood there, looking in
As nervous as I’d ever seen
He’d made me some from old tin cans
He had painted a bright jade green

I am glad to meet a fellow 'windchimer'~ I love the noisy critters, and I have a ton of them...Much to the chagrin of my neighbors, but HEY-----what do they know, huh?.....I should like to see those jade green ones....lolo......

What sweet melody sighs
Upon the morning breeze
Soft tinkling of bells
Compliment rustling leaves.

I got dibbies on the tin can chime! LOL Savanah

Oh I love wind chimes, I have them all around my house, inside, outside, back front, to me you can never have too many. I love the old chinese glass ones but I haven't seen them in a long time. And your neighbor is one of the good guys!!! Good write!! Karen

Hey, that neighbor wasn't so bad after all! Wind chimes are a beautiful addition to a breeze. Who could not like them? A lovely write.

William.
