Farewell To Summer
FAREWELL TO SUMMER

 Leaves swirl in the air
dancing ballerinas...
bidding farewell to Summer
Cool air pushes forth
arriving from the North...
a welcome stranger...
a nice reprieve
from a long, hot summer
of sizzling temperatures
 and high humidity
The final chapter of a steamy novel
as pages turn...
anticipating the ending
excitement rises...
the finale nears
an unexpected pang of remorse
creeps in
beginnings end and endings begin
a season ends
as a new time begins

Mary - I love the work here,  It is a wonderful way to picture the arrival of Autumn asnd it attendant changes.  I enjoy the way you liken the seasons as though they were literary works:

Summer as a "steamy novel', Interesting simile.   Nice Work.

Soon fall will come in with all its cool bliss ... and painted colors on the leaves with a kiss

Oh..I don't think this is wishful thing my dear Mary, especially the last two lines.
The blowing leaf and the music suits the theme perfectly....
The poem? Simply fabulous!
