If I could love but once....

If I could love, but once.....

If I could love, but once,
'tis you that comes to mind.
You are a true, real man,
one of the special kind...

With loving poetry,
so flowing in your veins.
Prose, that's rich in texture,
heartfelt words it contains...

Your awareness of Love,
beckons my ailing heart.
I've loved you, as you know,
right from the very start...

Words float within my Soul,
written from magic pen.
Gift me with the answer,
That you are mine again...

Holding hands at seashore,
as the Sun melts away.
Counting stars at twilight,
gathering a bouquet...

Yearning for Chardonnay
in soft, warm candlelight.
Holding you in my arms,
throughout the moonlit night.

Breathing in your essence,
tasting your sweetened lips.
Wanting to surrender,
to touch of fingertips...

Craving your passion needs,
as you in turn,  crave mine.
Completing our true needs,
in ecstacy devine...

Let this Lady Poet,
have her sweet dreams come true,
If I could love,  but once,
please Love,  let it be you...

Wow - I know this has been posted for some time now - but 64 comments? Never seen anything come close - and it's clear why there is so much interest (and also the award).  You set the bar high, not only in your writing but in your expectations of that perfect love.

I entirely understand what you mean now... And all it took was one read of this beautiful poem. I would've been complaining that it deserves an award had it not already had one. Brilliantly penned. I just learned a thing or two.

How Do I love Thee, Let me count the ways

so you, at least, you could count your own ways.

Perhaps it is the way a poet opens his heart...or hers...that makes them so irresistible. is the way the words entice one another as they reveal our hearts. I have no real answers...only speculation...but one thing I know for, my lady...are one of the best.

Incredible!! Stirring!! Heartfelt!!!Passionate!!! Excellent!!!
