We've never had childhood fights, and we don't share the same family tree. We don't share the same blood in our veins, but true sisters of the heart are we.
Born into different families, in Michigan we were raised far apart. None of that really matters to me though, because we're true sisters of the heart.
I grew up with two older brothers, and not a sister to help lead my way. In a way that makes me more appreciative of the big sister in my life today.
I look up to her in so many ways, as she awes me with her wisdom and wit. Through my troubles she has always stood by me, and that's something I will never forget.
Lighting up her face and her eyes is her smile, so warm in her greeting. Her hugs, a source of comfort for me; she seems to always know when I'm needing.
So Sis, as you are reading this poem, believe me when I say this to you. "You're the big sister I've always needed." I cannot lie, it's just simply true. |
