The Treasure

Treasure

JWWMyspace.jpg Pandoras Box image by onnanokotachi

dark and hidden
it lies covered
between illusions
and mystery
wanting to be found
yet guarded
locked and vaulted
circumspect
buried under
layers
of history
wounds
and when one approaches
it recoils

questions motives
examines actions
watches intensely
calculates responses

hopeful

cynical

aching

alive

it peers
through tears
takes hold
then releases
gives up

until key is found
unlocked
it inhales sharply
at the suddenness
of discovery
upon the treasured
cache
of the
surrendered
beating
heart

Author's Notes:
For all those that have been hurt and wounded by love, take hope....

the heart repairs itself in amazing ways

when you least expect it

To give in to love is like jumping into dark waters. You might not touch the bottom and you might not see the sharks circling just under the surface but if you hit the water just right, the sharks will scatter and you will be drenched in the cool waters of love. As for not touching the bottom, I wouldn't worry about it too much, love will keep you floating on the surface and safe from the sharks. Interesting write Ms Cindy Bendel!

Most people here have commented about a broken heart, and though you placed it under that section ma'am, this poem also sings to me about fear. Fear, in total, I suppose does arise from a broken heart too. Lovely.

Sometimes putting the 'where are we' in a write so far down can be risky but it worked and served you well here. Much enjoyed the write, especially the emotional visual of 'inhaling' when the key is found.

I love this Cindy, with each beat the heart can unfold a new mystery or build a wall to guard itself against pain or tear down a wall to let someone in. Either way the heart can be a most interesting thing, and that is why we guard it so closely. Henry

I love the symbolism here Cindy, terrific write. As I was reading it, I thought it was the heart you were describing, NICE! Joe
