Should Angels Fall

Should angels come down,
And take me away,
I want to be ready,
And wait a day.
I want to say,
Goodbye to the world,
And let it be known,
Its been good to me.
I'd let it know that,
Yes its been tough,
But in the end,
Its never enough,
I'd let it know that,
Yes its been harsh,
But I know that,
Yes I've come far.

Should Gabriel himself,
Come down and say:
"Its time to rise!"
"Today! Today!"
I would just ask,
For one more moment,
Before I turn,
And become eternally silent,
I would take a breath,
Of sweet tasting air,
And know that I have,
Not a simple care.
I rest and leave,
My worries behind,
And drift off to a place,
Where there is no time.

If we were told,
We didn't have time,
We didn't have long,
Left for us alive,
Wouldn't you try,
And savour the time,
Wouldn't you wish,
You still had your prime.
If angels and harps,
Came down tonight,
With a harp in their left,
And their eyes so bright,
Would you take their hand,
For the final flight,
Would you bid the world,
A final good night?
