Recognizing You

I wouldn’t have known you,

If you stood alone from the crowd.

I wouldn’t have recognized your voice,

If you were screaming out loud.

Though I’ve never met you,

I hold you so dear.

We’ve shared laughter,

And even some tears.

We celebrated victories,

Cried through the pain.

Our love and compassion,

Falls down like rain.

See I belong to a family,

With members I don’t recognize.

Though we’ve shared many lows,

And oh so many highs.

My brothers and sisters of poetry,

How close knit we are.

Scattered around the world

Some near and some far.

With our hearts open wide,

We invite one another in.

To be part of this family,

To be one with kin.

	just found this poem...love it....just found this site... love it too...it is exactly how i was beginning to feel about my fellow poets. what i loved about your poem was its simplicity.
