Family Matters

Dust ‘til dawn in the daylight hours

A little boy sits ‘neath a tree and cowers

The world's getting heavy

And he’s only nine

His Mothers sipping sherry

Waiting out time

Daddies on the front porch fixing a fuse

The only choice left is win or loose

It’s all about as mad as Carroll’s hatters

In a tiny little world of family matters

The Duke’s in the house with a tale to tell

Sounds like the legend of the livin’ hell

There’s a new born here

What a beautiful sight

Will it bring a tear?

Well to me it might

Granny’s in the kitchen baking bread

Grandpa doesn’t know his hand from his head

And I’m doing dishes just to count the clatters

Living in a world full of family matters

Now the day has come with a song in the air

A pretty little girl with her hair so fair

But there’s thunder in the cellar

And they're screamin’ on the roof

I think I’m gonna to tell her

All my secret truth

You don’t get a mansion by ticking books

You don’t get a soul mate just with pretty looks

We’ll write a book together called ‘torn to tatters’

It’s all about the world full of family matters

I was looking on back at that crazy old place

It was just like looking at earth from space

You only get a meal

If you’re at the table

You only make a deal

If you’re actually able

Weird as wonderland and that’s a fact

And I’m quite happy to live with that

So I’ve found some stones and some glass that shatters

Now I’ll build a shelter for our family matters

Family matters, in fact they matter most

It’s a bit like the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost

Get yourself a lady

And don’t look back

Then never say maybe

And remember the facts

You’re the one son gonna run this show

Now how you gonna run it fast or slow?

Get yourself a family one of pattering nattering chatters

And learn about the life full of family matters
