Vertigo

Little men far below.
Chills crawl along my spine.
Open hole through which to fall.
My hands cut a crooked line.

Flattened land all around
with traffic whizzing by.
Dizziness felt on weary feet
with a quick glance to the sky.

Sixty feet to the ground.
Might’s well be a mile.
Should I fall and land face up,
wonder if I’ll wear a smile.

Author's Notes:

I don't care how high I work so long as I have my feet planted squarely on flat, open ground.
I can't even stand on a flat roof and look up without being very uncomfortable.
This is dedicated to those who can .... the idiots

I am right there with you dear poet.  I can't look up either without that feeling of vertigo.
Well done. ~Pamela

I also have severe vertigo, and it seems the older I get the worse it gets!

I share your sentiments here.
