Sitting behind the wheel of my car

Phone in one hand

Wheel in the other

I can text while I drive

Done it so many times before

I can text while I drive

Just watch me do it.

I can do it

So here I am

Driving down the street

I'm so focused on the road

I see everything around me

Look down to text

Crashed into a man

Only took me ten seconds

Lives were ruined

What happened?

I was in full control

Saw everything around me

Where did he come from?

So there I am

Blood trickles down my face

All because I wanted to text

Instead of wait

Guess I was wrong

Innocent people was involved

Just because I thought I could do it all

So there I am

Laying in the hospital on a bed

A stretcher passes me by

It was that man I had hit

Nurse screams 

I have lost his pulse

He couldn't be revived

Just because I decided to text and drive

A tear rolls down my eye 

I start to cry

What have I done?

Took a life

Because I thought I was that guy that could do it all

Guess I was wrong

Now that family was ruined

Just because I thought I could text and drive.

Just another one in my little series about bad drivers.

Scott:  great writes about bad drivers.  This is one of my HEAVY annoyances.  Well all texting done CONTINUOUSLY bothers me.  I DONT text, dont even have a cell phone.

I saw this episode of Oprah where they were talking about texting and driving. I was shocked!  I must be honest, I did it and I was fine, I am in control ect. The statistics show if you text wile you drive is the same as having 4 drinks and then driving, which is way over the legal limit. It is shocking if you hear the stories. Good, relevant write which happens sadly to often.
