~A SAILOR NEVER CRIES~
A Sailor never sheds a tear,
 a Sailor never cries;
A Sailor never shows he's weak,
a Sailor never hides.
~
Yet at the Nursing Home,
just the other day;
My dad, who was a Sailor,
had to fight the tears away.
~
I felt so very hopeless,
I also felt his pain;
A man once independent,
now needed me that day.
~
He feared he'd wasn't coming home,
he thought I didn't care;
I tried to reassure him,
the reason he was there.
~
You see, he fell not long ago,
and badly broke his hip;
He needed daily therapy,
that only they could give.
~
I told him he'd be home soon,
then huged him oh, so tight;
I felt his fear and his tears,
as he softly sayed, "Goodnight".
~
"Now Dad", I reassured him,
this is only for awhile;
"Soon you'll be back home with us",
and I swear I heard him smile.
Author's Notes:
My Dad broke his hip and is in a Nursing Home, so he will receive the therapy he so desperatly needs.  I saw him cry the other day, so I had to put my feelings on paper.
