Second Personality

   Second Personality

It wasn't me he said -
Who was it then, I replied!

   Other me, was - it,
   Who played along and
   Fooled real me !

Is it still with you I asked !

It comes from time to time
   Plays along and goes -

Are you real, or are you it ?
   I marvelled !

Author's Notes:
It's about a strange sense I had from a friend.

second personalities are not bad, its only when you have 3 or more that it gets weird. but i digress, I liked this poem, I can relate to it. though to be honest, I love talking with myself with a scottish/english accent, and a german/russian accent. and then theres my regular voice too. but hey, gotta have fun somehow.  Well done,

John

Sometimes a person is exhibiting a sort of 'other' personality -- but he himself doesn't know it.  The old familiar 'dual personality' -- where one personality doesn't know about the other -- is an hysterical neurosis -- a simple but enormous form of repression.  The second kind is a psychotic process wherein there are not really two distinct personalities -- but more of a blend -- and most often the person affected has no idea he is so affected:  but still it is not nearly the kind of dramatic thing the regular old 'dual personality' is.  Though seeming less perceivable, it is the more serious of the two.  But in no way is the patient dangerous.  Persons often confuse 'psychotic' with 'psychopathic'  -- the latter is a character-disorder into which category fall serial killers and monsters such as Germany had during the war...  i know a lot about this because I was a psych major and had excellent teachers.  Your friend needs a friend and probably a doctor (psychiatrist).  --David

Some people actually divide into other selves.  It takes much compassion and patience to be a friend, but you may find it was all worth the time.  Most of us do have differences in character that are not so divided.  Such as when someone feel passion, desires, anger, love, and pain.  We have learned to control these emotions and act uniformly for most situations.  Most do not instinctively lash out and hurt another after they get hurt accidently ,  such as closing your hand in a door.  But others will explode and retaliate.  We control urges all the time.  Those who do not become like Mr. Jekyll and Hyde.  Then your sitting there asking where did that come from.  I don't know if I made my point but that's the best I can do at the moment.

Love

Tina
