Romance At Court

Romance At Court

Sir Len he was a complex man –

Sir David knew him well;

He always with a master plan –

Designed to give them hell;

Sir Dave was goodly, fair and kind –

Had he the ear of Bess;

Loved he the Queen in heart and mind –

Life could be such a mess;

Sir Len with Kym a Knight so fair –

Was taken by the heart;

He longed to hold her – stroke her hair –

But this could never start;

The Queen she knew of David's taint –

Although she worried not;

Respect did she his great restraint –

From matters bold and hot;

With Kym Len knew he had to hide –

The feelings that he had –

Although such things stirred him inside –

And often drove him mad;

If Len but knew his thoughts were shared –

Though Kym herself was shrewd;

She did in fact like Len and cared –

But stopped 'fore things accrued;

So Len and Dave would often meet –

And talk of this and that;

But talk of love they would not greet --

Kept it under their hat;

So life continues on apace –

They stay in blissful calm;

No signs of love on either face –

To do so would cause harm;

And ladies too – for them the same –

They kept things close to chest;

So this way there could be no blame –

Should things go wrong – 'twas best.

The courtly saga continues in a lovely new vein!  Thoroughly enjoyable! Strong -- yet with great sentiment.  Another wonderful one from not just another wonderful one!  --Love, Sir Dave

A bit different from the usual knights fare, but very well done. You should present more of the various knights personal side, show that they're not just brave, bold and brash. As always, well written, my friend and....thank you.
