When Love Meant LOVE
There was a time when love meant LOVE
Not this nonsense today of phony lust
Way back when, dating was slow, gradual
Like what Tony and Maria had, yeah?
Not today, where you just hop in the sack
There is no feeling, no real meaning to love
I'm a young guy, but my values are archaic

Archaic....old fashioned, respectful, corny

Fool things, like a first date being just friends
Holding hands, not goosing or grab-assing
Living home, not shacking up, immediately
Waiting til marriage, for sexual congress
Y'know, those stupid ideas, meant only for fools
I tell ya, if that's being foolish, then so be it
And so....may fortune favour the foolish!
Author's Notes:

Yeah, Tony and Maria....my reference to West Side Story. Now THAT was true love!

Love and lust are different things.  I'm an archaic thing.  You said it all, man:  Love has lost its truth.  What a shame.  --David

I am not familiar with your reference but I kind of agree with your point of view. Love obviously still exists but we are a very distracted generation. And everything is so escapable. I enjoy being in love but I also enjoy my freedom too much. Somehow it has gotten into our heads that the two can't co-exist and everything must be done in a rush. You sound so like my mother ;)

Bravo and encore -- Got to love West Side Story for many reasons but it sure was romantic and that Shakespearean love affair -- classic like this poem --

Oh yes... when love meant love... The words now seem to escape real emotions..

They say the words but don't have a clue at working on a relationship...

It takes time and patience to understand your mate and work on any thing

that will disrupt your happiness >> WIshing you happiness..

 LOve ya! ~ India
