INSENSATE
Watching the clouds
  Listening to the birds chirp
   Flower buds begin to blossom
Frogs nightly serenade on the patio
      My inanimate presence they know

Birds carry worms to their nests
 Hawks attack smaller critters
Gators quickly "snatch" an unwary animal
    Vultures "feast" on road kill
Nature Cycle can often appear cruel

Thinking back on my past stupid decisions
Of course when younger, foolish seemed OK
Now, however, I realize decisions often
     were lacking "enough good" sense
The Joy of youth is paid for in the ageless
Joy of growing older and please, GOD, wiser
Watching clouds float by and enjoying Nature

Nicely put Lady D. as always your wonderful take on nature lets the minds eye wander in the beauty of the garden as we are meant to see it,by definition the word insensate can also mean unfeeling and lacking sensation, numbness and the like, we all know of the carnage that goes on unseen in gardens and beneath our feet among the insects maybe that is how God intended our vision to be and for that I am thankful as much as I am in the beauty of your writing, always a pleasure~Graham.
