King Al And Sir Len

King Al And Sir Len

'Why sit you on your own this night?

When all around you friends rejoice?'

'My Liege, I am a worthy Knight –

Say have I made a worthy choice?'

''Tis God not I can tell you so –

Since He has brought you close as one;

There is one thing I surely know –

The maiden's heart you've fairly won;

The only thing concerns my wife –

The Queen – she is convinced of it;

That should one have to give their life –

The other then would be unfit;

So close the two of you may be –

Works well for you two in your life;

But should she fall then can't you see –

The horror days without your wife?';

'In battle we all do our best –

For King and country we all ride;

We follow through with every test –

Our deaths we never do deride;

Should fate determine in my life

A loss or wound – it matters not;

No matter what the pain or strife –

I'll live with that which is my lot.';

'Well said Sir Len but heed my word –

For you do not yet see it so;

No matter how it sounds absurd –

You are like kin – that must you know.'

'I thank you Sire – since this is true –

For you – your wife are both to me

As sovereigns aye – and so I view

You both as parents – lauded be;

Concern for us – accepted is –

Respect there too I fare thee well;

But know you lord – important this –

On future things I will not dwell.';

'Then so be it – be with your belle –

She waits now yonder shining bright;

You can about these things her tell –

So go with God my faithful Knight.'
