Friar Gene
'In reverence
and by God's own name –
Kym and Len I
betroth thee hence;
Be your marriage
not put to shame –
Long life and
love in every sense;
We hold these
two within our heart –
As they would be
family now;
Let no action
force them to part –
And may they
block and bar each blow;
When times are
hard we'll lift them up –
Embrace them
close and keep them near;
Lift up your
glass and drinking cup –
May sip your
wine and quaff your beer;
To their good
health we drink our toast –
Arise! Stand up!
Sit ye not down!
A wedding here
is what we boast –
Hail Kym our
bride in wedding gown
And good Sir Len
in armour dressed;
No happier time
has there been –
Before God these
two have been blessed –
Celebrate love –
there to be seen.'
Friar Gene with
a tear in his eye
Did address the
townsfolk loudly;
Even he could
not keep eyes dry
As he beamed at
them so proudly;
'Lord please
listen to your servant –
I have sent them
hence to their life;
I know not what
comes pursuant –
For this new
husband and his wife;
But I know you
will watch over –
They and their
brother Knights so sound;
And you will
keep them, moreover –
Close – never
lost and always found;
Silent as a
shadow at night –
He made his way
to his study;
There he sat by
the fire-light –
Thinking of this
wonderful day;
What did the
future have in store?
Strange it was
how kismet did play –
Could there
perchance be one thing more?
Bess – a
concern – but dare he say?.
