UPON A GRAY AND CLOUDY MORN

b’’h
5/27/12

UPON A GRAY AND CLOUDY MORN

Upon a gray and cloudy morn,
The eagle met the dove,
They talked a while before the storm
Descended from above.

The eagle did but scorn the dove:
"When will your folly cease?
Ridiculous your dreams of love —
Your fantasies of peace!”

Then spoke the dove to eagle’s eye:
"What pleasure blood and gore?
A monster, you, to live and die
For nought but savage war!”

And then the storm clouds broke the day —
The birds did not remain —
But flew they high and far away,
Escaping thus the rain.

If the word 'intriguing' had never been invented, your poetry could not be described to my satisfaction.. Reminds me of the song by the Eagles, "Love the one you're with'...At least the line,"When the eagle flies with the dove." I wonder if peace is the absence of war, or war is the absence of peace... I guess all we can do as individuals is to search for our own personal peace...Yer pal, len

David

A wonderful write.  I am on the Dove's side.  But would peace be spectacular if there never was war.  Would good exist with out the evil, would it have the same meaning.  Would the light be less bright without the dark.  Balance in all things makes all things more intense.  I also like Taniya's interpretation, in the final day would not the good and the evil part ways?  Just a lovely piece

What a divine piece of work! Unlike anything I've read. Brilliant. But I wonder what is this storm? God's final decision?

This is simply sublime. The symbolism is subtle, yet powerful.
