Do You Cry
For Me Weeping Willow?
Do you cry for
me weeping willow?
Your weight is
too great and you bow down;
Everything about
you says sorrow –
Should face you
have upon it a frown;
I look at you
and see my body –
Hunched over –
weight upon my shoulder;
Your frame
matches – me you embody –
Do you age like
me – get you older?
Do you cry for
us weeping willow?
Children of
Mother Earth grown so wild?
Do you cry for
us – our tomorrow?
What will be for
me – miscreant child?
I think you cry
for our very soul –
Our past decries
virtues we extol.
