Lady Bug

Lady Bug

Lady Bug, Lady Bug,

Grant me a wish.

Clasping it softly,

On my whispering kiss.

Lady Bug, Lady Bug,

Please, grant me this thing.

Holding it gently,

Under your wings.

Lady Bug, Lady Bug,

Please don’t delay.

Fly away, Fly away,

And by on your way.

Lady Bug, Lady Bug,

Please, grant me my wish.

Author's Notes:
I lady bug landed next to me on the back porch today.  My hand started to sound of a poem about a lady bug and its house was on fire and it had to go save Ann.  I thought gee the things the tell little children, hanzel and gretel, evil step mothers, poison apples etc.  I decided to write a nice lady bug poem.

You're right:  they do tell kids terrible things.  What else is new?  (Any chance to abuse is better than none.)  Anyhow you did a great thing here.  Sweet poem.  I think you should maybe try writing other very simple songs for kids...  you have a talent for it -- and you UNDERSTAND (too well).  I think somewhere I heard that lady bugs are good luck...  Hope so!  --David

Excellante. I agree with Tomahawk and hope you get your wish. I love the rhyming. A poet could take a million classes with you and still not learn enough, and neither be able to replicate you sense of poetry. Great job. Look forward to seeing more. Ciao.......Shajeea
