FIREWORKS -- SUBLIMATION BE --

FIREWORKS — SUBLIMATION BE —

Fireworks — sublimation be —
No shooting star from heaven — there —
But battle weapons — such — we see:
Symbols of ‘bombs bursting in air.’

Beautiful explosions — report
Of rifle echo sound
Hide chills of death — glorious war —
As keep we watch — on burial ground.

Author's Notes:
Leave it to me to say that there is another side to fireworks...  The quote, '...bombs bursting in air,' is from the United States of America's national anthem, written by Francis Scott Key.  The words are intended to glorify the fact that our revolutionary patriarchs saw that the American flag was still flying despite the fierce battle being fought beneath it -- where many lost their lives and more -- this, at night, by the light of exploding bombs, mind you.  The song goes on:  'O, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?'  The answer is painfully clear.
Report Offensive Poem.

Well, the flag still flies but is it flying over the home of the free and the brave? There are of course many worse places to live than the US but the rich and powerful seem to have something of a stranglehold now.

Men used to go into battle in order to cover themselves in glory. Not much glory in having a leg blown off. Some wars must be fought. WW2 had to be fought. I can't think of one since...len

So true that war is far from glorious, and that many have died for freedom or whatever other goal. I guess that its normal that things get coated over as time goes by.

Fireworks, be fireworks, be fireworks my friend. Some are glorious lights and others rain death. You have simply written honestly and THAT makes it wonderful!
