A Jamieson Essay: Which is more Dangerous:Science or Religion?
WHICH IS MORE DANGEROUS:
SCIENCE OR RELIGION?

Religion has given us churches and a people, of strong, moral beliefs,
who are able to practice, openly and freely, their God-given birthright of freedom-and-choice.
These cherished birthright(s) have become so important to the churches and its people
that Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
As a witness, or an example, to this powerful protection, that some may consider dangerous,
are people of all nationalities, (i.e. Russian, Serbian, Mexican),
who have been driven from every corner of the earth, to this great country of ours.
It is their last asylum to practice their faith and to maintain their "cherished beliefs".

Science, on the other hand, has given us institutions and politics
that are profit-driven
at the expense of the individual's "inherent trait(s)" of "freedom and choice".

Science is a "method". It's based on "hypothesis". The idea is proven by "experiment".
To experiment with human lives has always been a "moral" question.
That's why science and religion will always be at odds.
That is why science is more dangerous than religion.
The examples are numerous.

(a) Hitler's extermination of the jews and more than ten(10) million Catholics
has been proven to be based on "science and politics".

(b) Man's Inhumanity to Man, through war, revolution, civil anarchy, terrorism, etcetera,
has been shown to be based on "science and politics".
Misguided beliefs, by terrorism, have become the State through acts
of denial, penance, euphoria and declarations contrary to the Bible,
its teachings and its Ten Commandments that are based on love.
His Living Word has become an instrument instead of a cherished belief
protected by a Constitution and a Church whose foundation cannot be destroyed.

In summary, if we look at the question, "Which is more Dangerous:
Science or Religion?" Can it not be said, "Science"?

All the best,

Jamieson

Author's Notes:
"Freedom and Choice"
are the Birthrights
 that make up the
 First Amendment.
There will always be one God.
 Feel free to chose.
It feels good to use
your God-given traits.
 It really does.
All the best,
Jamieson from Palm Beach
where you're only a breeze away
from any Caribbean Island.

Actually the evil done by both sides have one thing in common and that is man. I think that a closer look at both sides will find the foundations of both have been good intentions but have veered off course because of the nature of man to rule and control. I also think that the foundation of science is very much in the truths of religion...
The fact that much of science has sort to disprove the faith of religion is not disimiliar to the child raging against the parent.
From my point of view my faith is more real than much of science because it tells me that God has put in place all things and created all things

Of all the bad things that "science" has done, I can easily think of as many done in the name of religion. In a deeper sense I get the feeling that there is no difference between science and religion and furthermore, that neither is well understood by most people.
Science is not dangerous. Religion is not dangerous. People ARE dangerous. You seem to think that science is some kind of anti-religion. It is simply the persuit of truth and understanding. Can there be nothing more beautiful?

It seems to me that both are vehicles used for humans to try to understand the unknown. The value of the human heart in determining the importance of each may be the ultimate key. When dealing with the power within life, we must all tread carefully to preserve individualistic rights. You raised some interesting points there Jamieson. Thanks, well done.
