I Penciled In My Memories
I penciled in my memories
Where my mind had left a blank
I doodled in the margins
While I stopped to fill my tank

A maze of endless mumbling
Told a story built off stone
All the days that I spent fumbling
All the time I spent alone

I penciled in my memories
Where the old ones used to be
I dabbled in deception
Hoping no one else could see

A mess of mindless chatter
Meant to make a little sense
All the things that were the matter
All my time up on this fence

I penciled in my memories
Where I felt they needed fixed
I didn’t think it mattered
While these feelings all were mixed

A muck of what I mentioned
Told a story far from truth
All my sudden apprehension
All my sudden need for proof

I penciled in my memories
Where I wished you still could stand
I doubted what I wanted
And I pray you understand
Author's Notes:
An abstract look at a long-passed conversation. Somewhere between the things you meant to say and the things you wished you hadn't. Anyways, long explanations are annoying ;) LOL

Memories...they're great. When you can keep them straight, that is. I like this. It's really deep and well thought out. Great job! I hope to find time to read MUCH more!

I would like a pencil with an extended eraser to rub out many of my memories. Hey...I figure if you can pencil some in then I can rub some out...sounds fair to me.
This poem holds a great deal of regret and is a thought provoking write. =))
