Words 11 (The Poet Weeps)
Words are no recompense for tears that flow

within the poet’s soul

seeking release upon a land

that is too vast and lonely

when faced alone

on days that follow loss.

Words are not the lover’s gentle touch

no matter the desire

found within the shattered heart

that searches for a haven

upon that open terrain

that holds no tomorrow.

Words are unable to grasp the image

of a soul that cannot comprehend

how a kindred heart

could fly to another life

leaving something so cherished once

behind and alone.

Words can only be found in a friend’s tears

as the outstretched hand of understanding

is gifted by another

and the two shall weep for loss

by sharing the only thing that is release

and the poets weep with words.

Ann, this is a beautiful tribute to gift of close friend when going through difficult times...I like the thought of the vastness of the hurt  and "Words can only be found in a friend’s tears"  ...absolutely wonderful..
