The T-Shirt
He puts on his crumpled t-shirt,
Tries hard to smooth it out,
But the crinkles always remain;
He wishes there was an iron about.

Itís stretched, seams are fraying,
Colour is faded, sleeves are torn,
But itís all heís ever had,
The only thing he would have worn.

People stare as he walks on by,
Noticing it constantly declining,
But to him itís as good as new,
To him itís bright and shining.

During the day it gets dirty again,
He puts it in the wash at home.
Without it he feels so naked,
He feels empty, he feels alone.

He puts it on and goes to sleep.
Comfort and peace on his face
He dreams of better days,
Secure in his t-shirtís warm embrace.
Author's Notes:
Came up with this today when I was putting on my favourite, but threadbare, t-shirt, was tempted to put it in the dedications section :)
