Paradox of the Grave
Cold, grey stone sits alone Worn and chipped over time- The date has long since passed The name faded and unrecognizable And the ode to the deceased, unclear Another step back and color fills the picture A towering tree shades a green tuft of grass, Sharing the same soil as the grave, Both waving with the wind As if a final goodbye from below Or is it a hello from the life above The active ants crawl across the grass Giving the illusion of a moving piece of earth Building their home from the same earth that fills the grave Another step back and the scene Around this rock becomes livelier. Creatures travel back and forth over the resting place And flowers blossom all around A landscape of life surrounding the picture of death Buries the idea that death inhabits this place

I enjoyed this very much. It takes a sombering ideal and shows that there can be life around death, we just have to broaden our perspectives sometimes. Excellent write.

Again, thank you so much for your comments. They're always wonderful. :)
