Forever waiting
There was a woman She was such a loving mother Her life was dedicated to her son For he was without a father It was just her and him But that was enough for they were happy Together there world was never dim She watched him grow From a boy to a man The day came, she had to let him go She had to let go of his hand But her goodbyes were different than any other For she knew what he was to be He was to become a strong soldier Of the U.S. army And on that day He left her life forever As she watched him walk away She realized she was losing her most precious treasure She received a letter every now and then Telling her he was fine She wished the war would end Which it would in due time The last letter she received Told her he was coming home She was so happy and her heart believed That they would finally be together again She waited at the door everyday But he never arrived and no more letters were sent His words he betrayed She still lost no hope that he was alive Years went by as she still sat by the door But she did not know he would never arrive For at 18 his life was no more.
Author's Notes:
I wrote this because I think that it is so stupid that one conflict between two people can kill so many innocent human beings... war messes up peoples lives and I just tryed to show here in my poem one little peice of a screwed up life hope you enjoyed it and I hope it made you realize how lucky you are to not have to feel this pain. -whitney-truegirl-
