Pictures and Posters and Postcards
I’m finally looking out for number one,
After all the damage that you’ve done,
But it will always be a mystery to me
Why you twisted it all so imperfectly.

The furniture is just how you left it,
After so many fits to get the best fit,
It used to remind me of what I lost,
But now it tells me of the true cost.

And I’ve come to think maybe I was right,
I’ve found my feet and recovered my sight,
After how you always told me I was wrong,
And I’ve been on solid ground all along.

I don’t need your pretty eyes anymore,
And what was promised but never in store,
All the dreams I never had are coming true,
All the dreams where I’m not missing you.

So pictures and posters and postcards
Are all that’s left of trying so hard
To do and say and give way to you,
Just to have you run me through.

I’ll lick these wounds, sitting here all alone,
Without having to my feelings disown,
Without being to myself untrue,
Without you.

I loved the line "All the dreams where I’m not missing you." I hope things look up soon. :-)
