A Prisoner of Mind
Chains of expectations snaking all around me

Sweet promises of nothing effecting how I see

Fighting with all my might till red in the face

But there seems no way to escape this place

This prison within my own mine forces me to be

Locked up in the moment refusing to let me free

How did I get locked in here?

When I don’t have the key?

The chains they now squeeze tighter

My energy for struggling it drains

Who could have put me here?

Locked up in these tight chains?

I thought I made a break for it

Somehow across the border

But while my mind imprisons me

Someone else gave it the order

Oh how blind I was to miss it

This bitter/sweet retribution

My fears and insecurities locked up

Just awaiting their executions

This dark and dampened prison cell

Where I so long have feared to tread

Was just a load of positive thoughts…

Running through my head
