Without Warning
I walk down from the second floormy hotel empty as 10.30 calls. My friend arrives on his moppedtears in his eyes something i dread.Words slip from his troubled mindhundreds are dead a wave he cries.Stunned without knowledge to his wordsa jet ski bike by the side of the curb. The numbness sets in its all so surrealI don't no what to say or how i feel.Alarms are ringing in peoples screamsoverwhelmed with tears sadness it brings.I cannot believe what is in front of mehundreds of deck chairs thrown by the sea.wreckage and carnage tuk tuk's everywhereI take a deep gulp of all this despair.Total chaos people still running everywhereeveryone wondering what hell took them there.Bangla road blocked with cars boats and bikessearching the wreckage to see if there's life.Sirens now ringing from the rescue trucksbody after body being pulled from the muck.Walking along beach road everythings now goneall the shops and beach bars i've come to know. The carnage now dawns on me how many lostas the tourist board insist 1 dead 4 lost? The burmese looters never batting an eyetaking advantage of mother natures cries.Suit cases still floating across the waveshow can this be on such a beautiful day.Battered souls to weakened to speakhearts so heavy with faith so so weak. The beach deranged with humanitys griefparadise lost to a five minute thief.Coaches and boats on top of hotelsPicturing faces now seeing this hell.Gold shops all looted vultures aroundamongst this grief their still to be found.Ocean plaza was bursting with lifeone man survive but lost two kids and wife.Warnings given more waves on there wayheading to the hills to keep us safe.Panic of the masses battered and tornhumans nature now running with the herd.On the hillside we reflect what we've seenand here the tales of where we have been.Networks are down on all mobile phonestrying to think of friends down below.Numbness still with me what can i sayso many people have been lost on this day.My thoughts turn to phi phi hope they survivedI was there yesterday before horror arrived.Evacuation proceedings now put into placeto scared to be returning to our hotels. All thinking the same in this knew born hellthe next big wave could take us mate...

Glad you survived, Paul. It is too awful for human minds to take in. devastation and suffering on an unprecedented scale. What will happen next I ask myself?

Touching picture of the turbulent moments after the wave..I think your line "paradise lost to a five minute thief" is very appropriate in this case and really sums the whole disaster up!
Glad you survived to tell us about it..

Thank you for this, Paul..A fine job of reporting this heartbreaker....Mother nature can't be faulted for doing what she does..The human suffering is too much to fathom..What really sickens me is what some people will do to take advantage of such a tragedy..Children, kidnapped, and most likely sold into prostitution...It's beyond belief...len
