Night's Child
The night a mournful black comes down to comfort me

Upon my shoulders the wind leaves a ghostly hand

The rain kissing my face disguising unshed tears

Lightening strikes to illuminate my unseen path

Rooftops the only witness to my tortured call

This life hidden from the world down below

The bleeding rose cuts flesh so deep and quick

Blood betrays this ghost by leaving traces small

The moon and stars bare witness to my silent plight

A shadow thatís solid stalking through the night

No one knows of his nocturnal secretive quest

Or of the villain in the mirror Iíve grown to detest

Down by the Church Yard all is quiet in the world

Yet peace and Holy ground hold no place for me

Walking the nightís world my gift and yet my curse

The river weeps so gently for unseen sorrow of man

The sun rises warily from its unseen bed

Searching faithfully for its lost friend

The sun he will not find me though

For I am gone with the light of day

Night has taken me under its wing

And I am forever now its child

You did a fine job of making your thoughts visual and whole. Sorrow is a child of the night, and she must ride the moon with her whipping straws. Be careful of the word "forever" for it has a habit of belching you up into the heat of broad daylight. Well done, my poetic friend, I enjoyed, and have missed your work in my busyness of late. A sip of cold clean water from the oasis you have given me, joia
