The Friendship game
I thought that you would just need some space

But now I donít even recognise youíre face

There through all the bad times weíd see

Then one day you walked out on me

Time became our biggest test my friend

We failed and then came about the end

I tried to close the widening gap

But you pulled and watched me snap

I still can hurt even if I donít show

Some pains heal but some pains grow

For you all I wanted was the best

But our friendship you put to rest

I thought of you better than just another fake

This time I know I didnít make the mistake

Salvaged pride is still small compensation

When your friendship gets its castration

So as I watch this old friendship die

Thereís not a tear that I could cry

The cancer in it gone on too long

But letting go just feels so wrong

The hardest part of the friendship game

Is that people never stay the same

Wow, what a wonderful poem...i can relate, im in the process of going through something very similar to your experience. Sometimes people do change, and letting go is sometimes the only option. I hope everything worked out. Great poem.
