Why I cry myself to sleep
The tears flood from my eyes As I lay myself to sleep My soul secretly crys For it is buried so deep I wish for peace tonight I wish not for nightmares to fill me head But I give up the fight For it's reality that I dread This world full of vultures and thieves Is the reality we live day to day The horrors are hard to believe But they are here to forever stay I wish to lay in angels arms In the light the darkness most fears Where I can never be harmed For love would always be near But if I wait for this, I'll wait forever And I can no longer take this pain For I feel it taking over I feel like I am tied down with sturdy chains So now I close my eyes Knowing I will never be free For this world has a tight grip on my soul But my soul I want to keep Yet its gone, buried in a deep black hole And this is why I cry myself to sleep.
Author's Notes:
This world scares the living hell out of me...I beleive that we live in a livig hell day to day...no matter how hard we want to change our lives for the best we cant change the world around us...and this is just a metafore for what I have been thinkin lately. thank you for reading I hope you enjoyed it.

Such a down to earth writing style, this is a huge asset. It's poetry in common english and very well put together.

Great write, Whitney! The troubles of the world are perpetual, and sometimes it seems like no matter what we do, we can't change the world. But as long as we make a difference in the lives in the people we hold dear and close, it makes this world a bit easier to live in =)

Te quiero mucho =)

This is a very good poem....the world is full of both good and bad...the good is out there, we just have to search a little harder for it...I sometimes think life on earth is hell...this is our test....excellent poem Whitney...

It is true Whitney that the world has become
a dangerous place where people commit terrible
atrocities to each other. There is also great
beauty and many loving people that reach out
to others each and every day. This is a very
nice piece and I did enjoy reading it. Linda
