Summer Invasion

I cannot help but linger,
on this peace filled summer's night;
to bathe in sounds of living things,
that will echo in a write.
I cannot help but soak it up
this thirst I cannot quench;
through long and snowy winter waited,
upon this very bench.
Even dreams did not do justice,
to the summer, did not give;
all that was deserving,
all that the snow let live.
I know there have been many,
and they seem the one and same;
but still my heart does fill with joy,
indeed it is aflame.
Sleep, I do not need you;
Winter, feel betrayed;
for I must sit awhile longer,
and let this night invade....

Author's Notes:
I know, I know, Spring comes first; but I just can't wait.........
