At Grammy and Papa's House

Bruised bananas, sour grapes

Grammy's old measuring tape

Pick-up, camper and fishing boat

Apple butter and Quaker oats

Dove hunting and cleaning fish

Pink roses on the china dish

Papa's tobacco and little house

A little trap set for a mouse

Fried chicken and deer chops

Peach cobbler and damp mops

Sittin' on the back porch stoop

Watchin' all the stray dogs poop

Watercooler, Fridgeadaire

Clothes on the line, dry in the air

Author's Notes:

Memories from when I was growing up when I went to Grammy and Papa's house

Papa's Little house was his work  shop out back

Sour Grapes refers to grammy making you say Sour grapes three times without smiling to see if you were telling the truth ( always grinned inspite of telling the truth)

The back Stoop is The concrete steps at the back door to get into the house

If you don't know what a watercooler(swampcooler) or a clothesline is than you are probably to young to understand this diddy

Paul, I love how you've mixed action memories with sensory memories.  And used figurative and literal references to describe it all.  I want to go to Grammy and Papa's house.

Great write! It sounds like you had alot of fun at Grammy and Papa's house and many fond memories. Watching the dogs poop though doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun. Memories are a wonderful thing to have.
