As The Day Closes

The day closes;
I sit quietly, on the patio,
and listen as creatures
mate, and call, and breathe.
I count my blessings;
that I am able to get up
and walk myself to bed each night;
that I can cook for myself,
and brush my own hair.
That I wake up to so many good things;
this is my tranquility.
No matter what the day brings,
or how much the sun doesn't shine.
How many things are hanging over my head,
none of that matters.
I have peace in my heart, in my very soul.
It all comes to me,
as the day closes.

Independance is an important freedom that we do so very often take for granted. You have shown that you don't do such a thing as you recognise that it's there. Lovely write.
