Light of Love, Light of Hope (A Co-write by Sarah &Phoenix)

I sit in quiet, dark of night...
Staring up at twinkling stars light...
My battle companion, here by my side...
The witty Phoenix, with fires wing, and humble pride.

In solemn conversation, we do sit...
And wonder where in this great land we do fit?
"Gentle Phoenix, I do believe we were made for these times..."
I look to him, and await his reply.

I sit and think, just what to say...
Just staring up, at moonlights ray.

"Yes, Brave Dragon.  I think you're right.
So peaceful the stars, they're just so bright."

So bright they shine, just like our dreams.
They shine of love and hope, to me it seems.
But then darkness comes, with revenge in mind.
The problem with an eye for an eye, is that everyone goes blind."

I think a moment on his words so wise...
"Perhaps we will find Peace before the newborn Prince arrives.."
I look above at the light of Love, the light of Hope...
Shining down on us, with tears in my golden eyes.

"Oh Gentle Phoenix, Our Hope now rests on one unborn...
And poor little dear, from our foes he will meet naught but scorn...
I can but guard him from Harm, but what of heartache?
Who shall this serious job, undertake?"

With that said, I went once more  into thought."Yes, it's all for him that this war's being fought.
However with hope as his shield, and love as his sword...
I think that he will make a very fine Lord.

But nor can I, guard him from heartache in life...
And us friends can only guard him from peril, not strife.
I supose there's only one, who's hand can fit the glove..
It would be his mother, who's peaceful and wise like a dove."

Author's Notes:
OoOoh, Co-writing a poem with a friend, how much fun this was.
(And the fun keeps on coming like flys to a fly zapper...)

The picture of the Phoenix is the best I've seen. Did you draw or copy the colors & form?

*smiles* That is what our jobs is, Dear protect the future. And I agree that he will be a fine Lord indeed. With two such wonderful parents how could he not?
