When you were just a child you built a wall
In your sheltered world like an antique doll
You always took and never learned to give
Don't you know that ain't no way to live
The basic facts of life have been denied
You buried your emotions deep inside
Don't keep running in the wrong direction
Come on friend we have a connection
Ask yourself are you a slave or free
Harmonious or disorderly
Maybe you and I can agree
I can show you new ways to see
Use the soap to wash the dirt off your face
Write with pencil so that you can erase
Know to stop when the light turns to red
When it rains know to cover your head
Your emotions find it hard to let go
We must find a new road to hoe
Maybe this time we can take it slow
More than we ever did before
All our past is history and our future is mystery
There is only one thing that is for sure
We must share with others if we want to mature
