Raw And Refined
Raw and Refined
Gems of great beauty to see
Each faceted with desires
And depths unequaled be
These two different fires
One is pure in its yearning
Needing guidance, a loving touch
The other brilliant in its burning
Always seeking just as much

Finding grace within earth's raw core
Breath of fire needing stoked with care
Watching as each stroke makes it more
The raw gem becomes more aware

Stunning its eloquence be
Grace and style of classics past
Refined all would surely see
When gazing into it at long last

Simple wisdoms here each impart
Neither one trying to rearrange
Honestly giving from each heart
Graceful gifts they then exchange

Wow!  HUGE PROPS on managing not only to rhyme the twos and fours, but the ones and threes as well!  And if that weren't enough to slate you as a master of mechanics, you went and wrapped the meter so tight I'm surprised the LID DIDN"T BLOW OFF! I guess it's true... women generally are better at multi-tasking, eh?
Comment By: FreeZoya Zaidi on February 26, 2006 06:55:19 AM Report
opposites always attract, this the law of the nature! The refined always has a fascination for the sheer energy and abandon of the raw; Raw is always striving towards refinement; Coming together they can compliment each other!
(((((hugs dear sensuous, a truly inspired write!
Love, xxx, Zoya

You also seem to have a gift for endings...this is a lovely write...a gem in and of itself...amongst multitudes of unpolished poetry, this glistens...Thank you for sharing.

Very good, Jody. A gem and a ring are not as pretty when apart as when they are joined together in a perfect fit. YLM

Dear JOlen - Is this poem about Yin and Yang or even about male and female being forged by the fires of love?
Truly the greatest love and passion is a real exchange, care for care, pleasure for pleasure.

Or else I am just a dirty old man reading my thoughts and desires into what is not there at all and you are writinging about the geology of diamonds and rubies!

Jody- I am glad you reposted, I 've never seen this one. " Diamond's-in-the-Rough" are interesting entities, So much raw potential and natural, honest talent. It is a pleasure to see them emerge and share their giftedness; as long as it doesn't go to their heads. Weel written.
