~My Miracle Medallion~

I wear a chain around my neck,
with a Marines medallion dangling.
I've had it for along time now,
when it was new it was sparkling.

My brother gave it to me,
when I was just a little girl.
He was in the Marines,
when he left my head was in a whirl.

He sent it home to me in the mail,
he knew that I would treasure it.
I didn't know what it would mean to me,
26 years later I must admit.

I lost it for many many years,
I couldn't find it anywhere.
While searching through a box,
I just found it lying there.

You may not think of it as a miracle,
but you see I found it the next day.
After the  New York Twin Towers,
had been blown away.

I put it around my neck,
and I never remove it from there.
It's just one of the ways,
I show my son I care.

My son was off at Bootcamp,
on that fateful day.
Keep him safe from any harm,
to you Lord this I pray.

Whenever I am feeling low,
and start to miss my son.
I hold on very tight to my charm,
and pray Lord thy will be done.

My son seems to always sense,
that Mom is missing him so.
He calls to tell me he is safe and he loves me,
he just wants me to know.

So now you see why I feel,
finding it to be a miracle.
Not only did I find it after 9/11,
but it keeps me close to my son.
So my life can be more tranquil.

Author's Notes:

This is true I do wear my medallion at all times.
It is like there is a connection with it and my son.

I didn't know this sis. I am so glad u found it though. I know what u mean about being worried about Damien, I worry about Adam too, but all we can do is to pray to God that He will keep them both safe. Remember, we r talking about our nephews here. Wonderful write, from a wonderful heart. No wonder I love u so...Hugz...your' big sister Jillian
