Child Of Heaven

I look over the long row of pictures
Up and down and back again
I carefully study every single one
Thinking, this is how things should have been

But things don't stay the same
We were made to grow and change
For better or worse
This is how we were made

The beauty there is haunting
It goes deep into the soul
Yet that beauty has long since left
It has changed from pristine glory to bronzed gold

Still beautiful, still unique
But the innocence of childhood has gone
The carefree, sunny, and happy days
Every one seeming to be a joyous song

Oh, to be that child again!
To have that simple trust
That my daddy will take care of me
And nothing can go wrong

To be so innocently carefree
Running through the grass in bare feet
Splashing through the mud and puddles
To live like that, to rest in such tranquility!

But just as I remember the past
The future draws me now
Because I believe a child is a picture of heaven
Where once again tranquility and innocence will be
Just me and you and God in glory

Author's Notes:

Beautiful me that warm, cuddly feeling inside.
Hope it does so for you too. :o)
