~Complaining About Gas Prices~

When complaining about the gas prices,
and watching as it rises.
Do me a favor and remember that,
I'm the person that everyone complains at.

I'm just the person behind the counter,
and I don't get it any cheaper.
I don't get a raise every time it goes up,
I'm just following orders from my higher ups.

Everyone seems to think that it's all my fault,
I must have lots of money stashed in my vault.
I don't get extra money to take a vacation,
or get to live in a big mansion.

I struggle to pay my bills,
keep food on the table and have a few thrills.
Put clothes on my families back,
have enough to keep my checkbook in the black.

You think my job is just waiting on you,
let me tell you now I've got plenty more to do.
Keep the coffee fresh and full,
or deal with you and get an earful.

Say Hi, Thank you  and be sure to smile,
when the mystery shopper comes it will be worthwhile.
Don't think for a minute that I dislike my job,
But there are days that I just have to sob.

So next time you go get gas,
please be kind and don't harass.
It's not our fault we pay the same price,
and our paychecks must suffice.

Author's Notes:

I do work at a gas station and people really believe,
that it is our fault the prices go up.

Very cute and witty Tracy, we are just venting and the gas stations are the likely targets, Joe

Well the gas prices are just silly! I know and people really should have commen sense on the fact it is not thge cashiers fault for the increasing rates... But sometimes people need to vent, and as long as they don't cross the line, you probably are the first person anyone says anything too about these prices. I am sorry that you are... Just be honest with people and tell them I don't create the prices!
Let them have it the same way they let you. Only smile and say thank you and please come again!

Yeah I hear ya. They will gripe about anything - I have gas and I give it away and everyone still complains about that, Can you believe it? LOL

Wouldn't want that job right now....LOL....But I'm not complaining....In the wake of our recent national disaster, I feel very fortunate to have a home, a job, and a car TO put gas in.

Great job telling it like it is Tracy!!

Very well said sis, bravo. The public always thinks it's the wrong persons fault when things don't go quite the way they want them to. I have worked with the public alot, and if I had to work with them again, I'm afraid I would get fired. Just let one of them smart off to me. U penned your' frustrations very well...Hugz...your' big sister Jillian

Sorry to hear that you have to go through that, Tracy~ Shame on ANY ONE that would think to blame the person at the pump or cashier area~!! Oh, I do groan and moan at the prices, but I have never ONCE thought to take the blame out on the person serving me~ Timely write, my friend....
