The Poet

The heart of the poet is ageless
She throws off the cloak of time
And dances away with her senses
Melting hearts with the words she combines

Never a moment is wasted
When her mind is not penning a rhyme
Revealing a heart that is naked
As it pumps out a story divine

 Proclaims moments of love everlasting
Then broken hearted she shares the despair
Of lost loves that were promised in passing
Then waits as her heart is repaired

She spins stories that willingly capture
Your heart, your mind and soul
As she fashions a verse full of splendor
In a way only she can extol

She is an artist that paints but a picture
Of cadmium, violets, and blues
Her words blend a lovely pallet of colors
As the portrait of her life is effused

And if you but listen quite closely
A faint melody you will hopefully hear
As she composes a symphony so sweetly
Of laughter and joy mixed with tears

Golden tongue flames burn internal
For others years later shall find
That the heart of the poet is eternal
And knows not to answer to time

The seasons of our lives give poetry its imagery. The seasons are times eternal like the first signs of spring expressed by the warmth of its colours & the tender sounds of its newborn life.

Time & the seasons are truly a poet's friend.

All the best,

Jamieson from Palm Beach

where you're only a breeze away from any Caribbean Island.

Well written, but unfortunately while i do believe poetry is immune to time's brutality often the poet is not... poetry is "A free man that strolls past/ Us imprisoned convicts of reality and time./ Occasionally leaving an everlasting impression..." at least thats what it is to me.. but none the less i genuinely enjoyed your poem and i think it will be going on to my favorites list.

Cindy I truly enjoyed this description of the poets heart. Your vivid word picture is intriguing and touches the true intent of the poet, describing life through the eyes of the artist.

How I smiled as I read this completely true and accurate description of what it means to be a poet.
It is beautifully crafted with a flowing rhythm to it but its the truth it contains in the lines which move me the most.

This is quite lovely, both in it's scope and imagery. Wonderful delivery. The mixing of colors, emotion, words, and painting - wow, what a canvas you work with here. There's just so, so much. Surely this will stand the test of time! Very well done!

You have captured the essence of writing and what it entails. The stripping down to a soul and then waving it into the wind. There is certainly safer things to do in life.
