Open Hearted Letter

It was so hard to tell you
What was always for you to know
That what I wanted to say
Somehow got locked away
And what I never intended
I have now become
A phoney, carbon copy
Of something I despise

Forgive my facade
My put together, in control demeanor
That may seem so cruel
It is only pieced together with a crazy kind of glue
Of broken shattered pieces
Left for me to pick up
Searcing for every shard
That even now I am still trying to keep in place

What began in innocence
One heart linking with another
Recognizing a tender vulnerbility
Thus pulled into a vacant place
Discovering a reflection that other's never viewed
Would it be so wrong to ask
What we never really understood
Do you not know that love cannot reason?

And that which I said I held with open hand
Your gifted, precious, priceless gem
I held so tightly, gripped into my palm
Ever pulled closer to my heart with each successive day
But how could you know when what I held inside
Only to keep you and not harm you
Was just a selfish wanting within me
That now has wrought what pains me to know

Absolve the mere rambling of a fool
Who now must abide with a guilt, culpable in every way
Never to atone or explain for fear of hurting you more
Or maybe crushing her very own soul
Because she waited not for destiny
To endure a twisted fate
And substituted breath for passion
Thinking not that it would be ever enough to survive

...I continue to be astounded by your poems...touching on emotions and expressing thoughts I've entertained...yet supressed...have we walked the same roads?  You are a poet's make us feel what you feel...and taking it one step make us confess in our heart..."I stand a fool right alongside of you"  ♥

This is great! You have a style that says, "I was written by Cindy Bendel." You are one of a kind, and that is good. I love reading your writes.

A wonderful exploration of those feelings, almost unfathomable, standing at the depths of our nature, wanting to be one, yet in the absence of proof, uncertain, separate, and alone. Here, taking so much responsibility for those things that can never be said. Should not have to be said.
I absoutely loved your description of how the facade and how things began. Just exquisite yet easy to relate to. How hard it is to realize destiny picked a different path. It's a melancholy but beautiful poem. One that must be considered. I'm so glad you're here!

When receiving a letter, not addressed to a specific addee,
our hearts begins to ponder, if the letter was meant for thee.
With all our hope and compassion, we bring on much regret.
If we were the one specific, for whom the letter was meant.

Nice letter Cindy
