Walking Contradiction

You say you love us
But what do you show
You say you need us
So why elsewhere do you go?

You're supposed to be a leader
But your hand is not there for me to take
You say you'll never leave us
But sometimes it seems most of what you say and do is fake

You say you will always listen
But your ear never hears
You say you will always have time for us
But you're hardly ever there

You say you like me
But then I do something wrong
And your anger then erupts
As tears become my song

I just don't understand
How you can say one thing
And then go off and do another
Whatever happened to loving eachother?

First you thought yourself at fault
And to be honest, I thought I was too
We blamed ourselves for everything
Most of which was lies

But then you found a way out
At least you thought you did
But really it's just caused more problems
And now there is no way to forget

You use it as an excuse
To act the way you do
To just give up and stop trying
Saying it's not you it's all her

But you know what, you're wrong
And I'm gonna give it to you plain
There is a reason things are like this
And it's not because my mom is believed deranged

You were tired, just plain worn out
And you won't admit it, but you wanted to just run away
Throw all the memories to the floor
And escape from your metal cage

But you still feel trapped
Except now you're escaping in other ways
You're shutting yourself off
Taking your heart back out of reach from being prey

You won't seperate, you won't divorce
Because although you'll give up inside
What other people can see
Is still up for show

You're a leader, an example to the church
But at home, with your family
It makes me wonder who that man is behind the pulpit
All smiling and looking happy

I don't want to judge you
That's not my place
But I sure wish someone would tell you
What's what straight to your face

You think you're the only one that's lonely?
Well, you're not, not even close
Your whole family is trying to remember what is was like to be happy
Before you got all depressed and morose

All I'm saying is, you need to step up
Take you load and be man
And if you can't love your wife
At least treat her like a person

It takes two to argue
It takes two to fight
But it only takes one to destroy a marriage
And you're off to a pretty good start

I'm not saying it's all your fault
But at least she still wants to try
She's still willing to give you a shot
And all you do is feel sorry for yourself and ask God why

All I want is to see you guys happy
Together would be preferred
But I'd rather you be apart
If this is how it's going to be the rest of your years.

Very good write, only takes a couple of people to make everyone around them feel unhappy, a great write
