Action Stations!

“Actions stations! Action Stations!  This is not a drill!”

this proclamation, through the ships company, sent a chill.

An unidentified plane was closing in low on the
aircraft carrier now at ready,

the planes speed was constant, its position low,
it did not waver but remained steady.

Two aircraft were launched to intercept this closing threat,

all guns were ready to repel, but didn’t fire yet.

Surface to air missiles were prepared in readiness to take action,

now the ship stood ready for the intruder, to take him out
in less than a minute fraction, yes, in a fraction.

The two aircraft closed in and soon had the single
aircraft in their sight,

would it change its course, or would the two aircraft
engage in a fight?

The planes defense systems warned, “Incoming missiles!”
  in its computerized voice,

the planes took evading action as the missiles flew past,
they had no choice.

A surface to air missile was launched from the carrier,
in a cloud of fire and smoke,

the incoming missiles were destroyed, the aircraft carrier had spoke.

The two friendly aircraft split formation to attack the enemy plane,

it was attacked and destroyed in a ball of red flame.

The ship stayed at action stations for the rest of the night,

Prepared and ready, should there be again, a need to fight.
