Forgive my smile's absence today,
Already know what you will say.
Sweet cliches dipped in regret,
A future memory I can't forget

And we soared, you can't deny
Until the clouds began to cry,
How quickly we betrayed those wings
In tempid pursuit of less noble things.

No cry, no plea can change the road
Of a destiny that's been foretold.
But silence stands bitter by my side
Chosen only to protect my pride

For it's no nobler to pay the cost
To fight a battle already lost
Please forgive me -- I already knew.
Wings betrayed and sweet cliches spoke to me all too true.
