~Twenty-Six Years~

For twenty-six years now, our lives have been intertwined.
It's always been ours, never just yours, or just mine.
Together we've seen many losses and days filled with rain,
but couldn't have moved on without those life's growing pains.

There were days filled with smiles and plenty of sunshine,
tent camping in the rain, and day-trips to the coastline.
We had our vacation cruise too, our biggest and best yet;
the wonderful memories of which we'll never forget.

We brought into this world two sons and a daughter.
I remember now the tears as well as the laughter.
Broken hearts, fevers, and several broken bones,
journeyed us through a world previously unknown.

No one could have told us how hard it would be,
to tend and to nurture our children of three.
With love, sweat, and tears we both did our best,
to teach our children with the knowledge we possessed .

Today they have grown and become wonderful people;
of them I am so proud, yet still very humble.
I know our jobs as parents will someday come to an end;
until that day their hearts we'll always defend.

For twenty-six years, our lives have been blessed.
We saw many hardships; had our faith put to the test.
The joyful days were plenty, some days they were blue;
and honey, I cherish each one because I've shared them with you.

This was a very good write. Carolyn and I had our 35th this past December; sometimes I wonder how we ever made it, but we did and are very proud of that fact.
I loved your write by the way.
