~Let Me Be The One~

My sister has leukemia,
and is getting really sick.
She's had all the chemo,
and it didn't do the trick.

Now the doctors are asking,
her siblings to have a blood test.
So they can check and see,
which one matches her best.

From the day I was told,
that luekemia is what she had.
I said I would help in any way.
and I know that made her glad.

I grew up in a very close family,
that would do anything for each other.
Even if that anything involves,
being a bone marrow donor.

In many ways I am scared,
of what will happen to her.
But in more ways I'm scared,
of living without her in the future.

She has 4 siblings in which to be tested,
there's a 25% chance according to the Doctors.
That one of us will be the perfect match,
if none of us are, they will look for other donors.

I pray to God everyday,
please let me be the one.
So I can ease her pain,
and take away her burden.

Oh Tracy, I feel this one...through and through. I've been so close to this problem more than once. I have a nephew who had cancer and his sibling {sister} dontated her stem cells that his life be spared. He is doing remarkably well and that is a couple of years behind I hope this gives you hope.

I live with this threat myself so I feel this poem deeply. My kindest thoughts and my type of prayers are going out to you and your sister. Does she need a blood match or stem cell match?

This poem of love has touched my heart. I will be thinking of you with compassion. *hugz*
