Solitude

Alone and watching a setting sun
It appears to melt into the horizon
A cool wind blows yet stems no fever
For I have my mournful eyes on

I am surrounded by family and friends
Yet solitude cuts me to the bone
I feel I am in the midst of a crowd
Stranded on an island all alone

I wish to reach out and fit in
But I can't get outside my mind
Trapped inside of a looking glass
With no way out to find

Still I seek for a means to enter
As I search for inner fortitude
                                         A method to forever end
                                       This self induced solitude

I can relate to this on so many different levels. Its so hard  to feel like  you are swarmed by everyone and everything and not a single soul in the croud hears sees or understands you. it is a lonely feeling to  be in. Very touching and intense write always Maggie.

There is nothing worse than being alone in a group of people. It can be devastating to the soul. Excellent piece Henry. SO many people life exactly in this same place. ~Pam

There's nothing more painful than feeling locked away from all those around you. Self induced solitude is so painful...and so hard to break free from. Extending a helping hand :)
Hugs!
